1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
salt and pepper, to taste
1 1/2 cups mixed salad greens
1 medium orange, peeled and split into pieces
1 small fennel bulb, thinly sliced
1/2 medium red onion, thinly sliced
1/2 cup slivered onions
1/2 cup dried cranberries
Place sugar, vinegar, oil, basil, salt and pepper in a bowl. Whisk together until sugar dissolves.
Put mixed green, orange, fennel, onion, almonds and cranberries into another bowl. Toss together.
Pour dressing over the salad and toss.
